Auto Shanghai 2005 Aims to be Asia's Best

BEIJING - Officials announced that Auto Shanghai 2005, under the theme of ''"Better Auto, Better Life," would be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from April 22 to 28, 2005.

As Auto China 2004 continued in Beijing, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council, the CCPIT Sub-Council of the Automotive Industry and Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. (SIEC) held a joint press briefing for ''The 11th International Automobile and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition, Shanghai'' (Auto Shanghai 2005) at Beijing's Great Wall Sheraton Hotel on June 11. Mr. Tang Guifa, SIEC president presided over the conference, with Mr. Chen Xianjin, president of Shanghai World Expo Group, vice chairman of the CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council and chairman of the board of SIEC, and Mr Jiang Lei, executive vice chairman of CAAM also spoke at the meeting.

Mr. Chen Xianjin, vice chairman of the CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council announced that Auto Shanghai 2005, under the theme of ''"Better Auto, Better Life," would be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from April 22 to 28, 2005.

Auto Shanghai 2005 will be organized by CAAM, the CCPIT Shanghai Sub- Council, the CCPIT Sub-Council of the Automotive Industry and co-organized by SIEC, Messe Munich International and IMAG-International Exhibition and Fair Services Ltd. With the efforts of all involved, Shanghai Auto 2005 aims to be an automotive exhibition that can be recognized on the international arena, and be considered Asia's best.

Mr. Chen said that all seven indoor exhibition rooms and the outdoor exhibition space of the Shanghai New International Expo Center would be made available for Auto Shanghai 2005, making an area of 120,000 square meters, an increase of 50% over the previous show in 2003. Due to limited exhibition space and the high demand, some exhibitors will have to set-up booths outside.

Headquarters of some of the world's biggest auto companies have attached great importance to Auto Shanghai 2005. Working together with their Asian and Chinese counterparts, they hope to bring the exhibition up to the same standard as the world's largest auto exhibitions, matching in terms of exhibition space, new models on show, design of exhibition booths, and in the planning and packaging of promotional activities. With China's ever growing Auto industry, companies are planning show the same efforts at Auto China 2005 than with the top five auto exhibitions around the world.

China's domestic automobile companies will also take part in the exhibition, making it the most significant platform for them to promote and showcase their products. The attendance of the biggest names in the industry, from both home and abroad, highlights the great importance of the exhibition for the automotive industry.

Through the exhibitions official website, http://www.autoshanghai.com.cn , an interactive online auto exhibition will also be organized during Auto Shanghai 2005. The organizers also plan to launch the ''China Auto Design Forum'' and a selection of activities like the ''Best Designed Exhibition Booth'' and the ''Most Popular Car.''

Organizers for Auto Shanghai 2005 will take a series of new measures to further improve the services available, embodying the idea of being ''people orientated.'' To provide journalists with as much information as possible and to accommodate requirements from different attendees, organizers have decided that April 22 will be News Press Day, April 23 and 24 will be Professionals Day and April 25 to 28 will be public days.

Auto Shanghai can be traced back to 1985 when China held an international automotive exhibition for the first time. It is now organized once every two years in Shanghai, becoming larger and more influential. Auto Shanghai 2003 attracted 703 automobile companies form across the world, with 576 media personnel and 3000 journalists, from home and abroad, reporting on the magnificent auto show.
