Pirates sell commemorative Michael Jackson DVDs in China
2009-07-01
BEIJING (AFP) - Chinese music pirates have issued a set of Michael Jackson commemorative DVDs less than a week after his death, with the pop star's "Complete 50 Year Record" on sale in Beijing video shops Tuesday. The two-DVD set includes Jackson's greatest video hits, footage from concerts in Romania and Japan, "The King of Pop History on Film," as well as other Jackson videos. "These are selling very fast," said a DVD seller in Beijing's Jianguomen diplomatic quarter. "We are expecting a new shipment in tomorrow with more selections." Jackson died Thursday after collapsing at his home in Los Angeles. He was 50. Jackson was hugely popular in China, especially in the 1980s and 1990s, when his music was among the first Western pop songs available after the nation opened up to the outside world.
