General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM) is in preliminary talks to buy Chrysler, the struggling U.S. arm of DaimlerChrysler AG (DCXGn.DE) (NYSE:DCX), or to strike a strategic alliance with the rival automaker, sources familiar with the situation said on Friday.
